Join local environmentalists Wednesday, August 7, 2024 as we talk with Orville Thomas, the new CEO of the California Mobility Center. Thomas joins ECOS to talk about building a Clean Energy, Power, and Zero-Emission Innovation Hub in Sacramento and how that will reshape California’s push towards its climate goals. The Mobility Center concept would construct an almost 200,000 square foot research, development, innovation, and workforce development space in partnership with Sacramento State, SMUD, UC Davis, and the Greater Sacramento Economic Council. 

Orville’s talk will be 6:05 to 7:00 pm including Q&A. ECOS Board meeting to begin at 7 pm, following the presentation.

Valley Clean Energy’s Board commits to goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2030 as it celebrates 5 years of service

Valley Clean Energy’s Board of Directors has set the ambitious goal of ensuring 100% of the electricity used by customers comes from renewable and carbon-free sources by the year 2030 while maintaining affordable rates. This goal surpasses that of state mandates and PG&E clean energy objectives.

We would like to share a press release regarding this newly adopted goal of 100% renewable and carbon-free energy by 2030. This year marks VCE’s 5-year milestone and the organization has already set recognizable precedence for their commitment to delivering clean energy throughout their territory.

Sacramento Climate Action Plan: draft ready for public review!

Sacramento County’s draft Communitywide Climate Action Plan (CAP), which addresses greenhouse gas reductions and climate change adaptation, is now available for public review.

An online workshop on the draft CAP will take place via Zoom at the Sacramento County Environmental Commission (SEC) meeting on Monday, March 15, at 6 p.m. The workshop will be an opportunity for the public and the SEC to provide feedback on the draft CAP.

SMUD Demonstrates Power of Clean Energy at Sacramento Earth Day

Hundreds of community members attended the Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS) [Sacramento] Earth Day event to enjoy food and outdoor activities. This year the eco-friendly affair was powered without the added noise and pollution of …[bio]…diesel generators. Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) provided clean power to concessions and electric vehicle (EV) charging using branded FreeWire Mobi® Gen and Mobi EV Chargers. In one day SMUD delivered 47 kWh of clean energy and reduced CO2 emissions by 61 kilograms by replacing a 25 kW biodiesel generator with mobile, battery-integrated products.
