Questions?
Contact Alexandra Reagan, Director of Operations for the Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS) at office[at]ecosacramento[dot]net.
Volunteer Roles
The task we need the most help with is Breakdown from 4pm-6pm, so if you are able to volunteer for that, please do!
Pre-Earth Day Event Planning
Pre-event volunteer coordination, promotion, hanging flyers, fundraising, exhibitor coordination, community outreach, graphic design
Event Set-up
This includes unfolding and placing tables and chairs in pre-designated locations, helping direct and support exhibitors as they bring in and set up their display materials. If you are physically capable of helping with table and chair set up, we appreciate your assistance with those tasks. If not, we can still use your help coordinating volunteers, organizing the info booth, supporting exhibitors, and other lighter-duty tasks.
Traffic Control
Help cars get where they need to be, when they need to be, safely and responsibly.
Breakdown/Clean-up
This mostly includes helping exhibitors pack their items and exit the park, packing up tables and chairs and helping us leave the park clean and beautiful at the end of the day. We always need several volunteers to help fold and load tables and chairs; however, there are lighter-duty tasks such as litter sweeps, exhibitor support, HQ support, etc. that you can do as well during this shift.
Exhibitor Support
Help welcome exhibitors and if need be, aide in their set up/breakdown; assist them with any information they need, concerns they have or issues that come up.
Event Headquarters (Event Information table)
Help ECOS run this event! This shift takes place at the event headquarters. Includes providing information about the event to attendees, delivering messages, maintaining organization of volunteer supplies and organizational materials.
Waste Diversion Education
Teach people lessons that can last a lifetime and will help our planet tremendously. Help Sacramento Earth Day attendees choose which receptacle is most appropriate for their “garbage” – recycling, compost or landfill.
Volunteer Coordination (leadership role)
Volunteer to help coordinate other volunteers. Build or use your leadership skills!
