We need lots of volunteers. Join us early, mid-day, or late to meet new people, learn and network with others. Pick a shift or two. All volunteers receive a free Sacramento Earth Day T-Shirt!
Help us recruit volunteers. It takes many of us to make Sacramento Earth Day happen. Ask your friends, family members, colleagues, neighbors, and fellow students to visit this page and sign up with you on the Volunteer Sign-up Form at the bottom of this page.

Advanced Planning for Sacramento Earth Day
Pre-event volunteer coordination, promotion, hanging flyers, fundraising, exhibitor coordination, community outreach, graphic design
8:00-11:00 AM Getting set up
Event Set-up includes unfolding and placing tables and chairs in each booth site, and helping to direct and support exhibitors as they bring in and set up their display materials. If you are physically capable of helping with table and chair set up, we appreciate your assistance with those tasks.
Volunteer Coordination (leadership role) — Help to coordinate the work of other volunteers. Build or use your leadership skills!
Tents and table set-up — Help set up four ECOS tents, and organize the ECOS information tables and water station, and other lighter-duty tasks.
Traffic Control includes guiding vehicles to safely and responsibly drop-off display materials for transfer to golf carts or in special circumstances, at the booth site.
11:00-4:00 PM Focus on the people
Greet, Guide, and Support includes welcoming event attendees, handing out park plans, orienting attendees to the special exhibits and the food area; also helping exhibitors and vendors with information, concerns, or issues that come up; and finally supporting the ECOS Headquarters tent.
ECOS Event Headquarters (Event Information table) — Help ECOS run this event! This shift takes place at the event headquarters. Includes providing information about the event to attendees, delivering messages, maintaining organization of volunteer supplies and organizational materials.
Waste Diversion Education — Teach people lessons that can last a lifetime and will help our planet tremendously. Help Sacramento Earth Day attendees choose which receptacle is most appropriate for their “garbage” – recycling, compost or landfill.
4:00-6:00 PM Event Breakdown and Clean-up
We need the most help with Event Breakdown from 4pm-6pm, so if you are able to volunteer for this shift, please do!
Event Breakdown includes packing up tables, chairs, and HQ tents, and helping us leave the park clean and beautiful at the end of the day. We need many volunteers to help fold tables and chairs and load them into the truck, and to help exhibitors pack their items and exit the park.
Clean-up is a lighter-duty task but equally important. It includes litter sweeps and checking on waste containers. exhibitor support, and ECOS HQ support, that you can do as well during this shift.
