Open your hearts—and wallets, Sacramento. The cost of a single movie ticket can amount to a feel-good contribution during the 2017 Big Day of Giving, which will get underway starting at the stroke of midnight on Thursday, May 4, and end 24 hours later at 11:59 p.m.

The fourth annual online fundraiser aims to raise millions for 600 regional nonprofits, including Capitol Ballet Company, Soil Born Farms, Save the American River Association, Sacramento SPCA, River City Food Bank, and many more. (ECOS too!)

Sierra snowpack is huge and melting fast – what that means for spring flooding

The wettest winter in Northern California history ended the drought and produced an abundant Sierra Nevada snowpack.

Now it’s starting to melt, and quickly.

As state officials completed the final snowpack survey of the season Monday, forecasters predicted high river flows throughout spring into midsummer.

Stakeholder Meeting for the Downtown Specific Plan

The City of Sacramento is developing the Downtown Specific Plan.
 
The plan will focus primarily on:
 
  *  Identifying and evaluating a number of urban infill sites within the project area
  *  Removing barriers to housing development by streamlining the development and environmental review process
  *  Incentivizing Transit-Oriented Development throughout the Central City, including along the streetcar corridor
  *  Maintaining and improving the quality of life for Central City residents, and furthering neighborhood livability by including additional amenities and housing opportunities
 
The project team is hosting a focus group meeting to discuss community amenities, historic preservation, arts and culture, and public health as they relate to increasing Downtown’s housing supply. Take part in developing the plan, and find out the results of a recent community survey.

Business park proposed for acreage south of downtown Woodland

A development group has submitted a proposal for a 351-acre project anchored by a research and technology business park south of downtown Woodland.

The Woodland Research and Technology Group’s proposal for the area bordering the eastern edge of Highway 113 also includes mixed-use neighborhoods. The group calls the proposal is a good fit with the city of Woodland’s general plan.
