ECOS Letter to LAFCo re Airport South Industrial Project

On June 10, 2024, ECOS submitted a letter to Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) regarding the proposed Airport South Industrial Project. Below is an excerpt.

Thank you for the opportunity to share our concerns with you about the proposal for the Airport South Industrial Project (ASIP). We will submit our comments on the Draft EIR for ASIP soon, but at this time we would like to state our opposition to the ASIP, the proposed related expansion of the City’s Sphere of Influence and annexation.

ECOS FOSH LETTER to Board Supervisors Item 11 Watt-EV FSEIR

On May 17, 2024, the Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS) and Friends of the Swainson’s Hawk (FOSH) sent a letter to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors on Item 11, Consent Calendar, Board Meeting May 21, 2024 on the Watt-EV SWIFT Project FSEIR.

We asked that this item be shifted from the Consent Calendar into the main body of the meeting and that the Board add a requirement for the project applicant to obtain an incidental take permit from the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Hearing for City of Sacramento’s 2040 GP & Climate Action & Adaptation Plan 2/27/2024

The Sacramento City Council is expected to adopt its 2040 General Plan and Climate Action & Adaptation Plan and certify the Final Master Environmental Impact Report on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Please attend this important meeting.

The 2040 General Plan

The General Plan is the City’s blueprint for how and where it will grow over the next 20 years. It contains policies that guide everything from the type of homes available, to jobs, transportation, environmental justice, public safety and much more. This major update has been focused on managing growth sustainably and equitably in ways that benefit the whole community, increasing opportunity and prosperity for all.

The Climate Action & Adaptation Plan

The Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP) establishes Sacramento’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target for 2030 and 2045, and positions Sacramento to reduce GHG emissions while adapting to projected climate change impacts.
