Natomas meeting with Natomas Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC) 10/3/2024

On October 3, the Natomas Community Planning Council (CPAC) is giving the public an opportunity to comment on the Upper Westside Project. You can submit written comments, phone in, or attend the meeting and comment in person.

Please comment – We want the CPAC to know the community is closely following this project.

2024 Sacramento County Climate Action Plan and SEIR

On July 15, 2024, Sacramento County published the 2024 CAP and the Draft Subsequent EIR. The new documents are available on the CAP webpage: https://planning.saccounty.gov/PlansandProjectsIn-Progress/Pages/CAP.aspx

In support of the 2024 CAP, Sacramento County has prepared a Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) to analyze the potential impacts of the 2024 CAP. The Notice of Availability (NOA) of a Draft SEIR is available below. Public comments on the 2024 CAP and the Draft SEIR will be accepted until August 29, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

The County’s goal is to complete the CAP and its associated SEIR as quickly as possible while ensuring compliance with applicable CEQA statutory timelines for public input and review.

During the 45-day public review period, staff will present the 2024 CAP to the Sacramento County Climate Emergency Mobilization Task Force on August 8, 2024 and the Sacramento Environmental Commission​ on August 19, 2024.

Envisioning Our Transit-Oriented Future: Elk Grove, 9/10/2024

Join us for an insightful panel discussion on shaping a thriving and connected future for Elk Grove through transit-oriented development. Presented by Sacramento Metro Advocates for Rail and Transit (SMART) with a grant from Sacramento Regional Transit, the event will delve into how modern transit solutions can drive inclusive economic development and community vitality in one of our region’s fastest growing cities. Sacramento Bee reporter Ari Plachta will moderate.

Elk Grove city and business leaders will explore the unique opportunities that come with extending SacRT’s Light Rail or Bus Rapid Transit service into Elk Grove. Key themes will include the alignment of community investments, political will, and development support necessary to achieve a cohesive development strategy that leverages improved transportation options to bring vitality to Elk Grove’s local economy and enhance quality of life for residents.

We’ll examine the potential for developments like Project Elevate and Sheldon Farms South to serve as catalysts for urban-style growth in the suburbs, akin to other successful mixed-use developments along the Light Rail like Sacramento’s R Street corridor and development near Sac State, around the 65th and Folsom station. The discussion will also touch on the variety of opportunities for development along the potential corridor.

This panel discussion is part of launch efforts for an updated master plan for Light Rail (or Bus Rapid Transit) into Elk Grove. The master plan is being developed by the City and SacRT, with funding from Caltrans.

California Mobility Center to boost state climate goals, local economy through new Sac State facility, Thursday, August 8, 2024, CapRadio

What is the California Mobility Center?

According to the master plan, the mobility center will provide future mobility innovators and industry leaders with access to programs and resources that accelerate the pace of commercialization.

The Environmental Council of Sacramento — a nonprofit corporation with a mission of achieving regional sustainability, livable communities, environmental justice and a healthy environment for Sacramento residents — held a talk Wednesday evening via Zoom with the center’s CEO, Orville Thomas, to discuss how the center will help the region achieve climate goals while also boosting the local economy.
