Proposal for sprawling development south of Highway 50 is missing key details for Folsom and El Dorado County

Angelo Tsakopoulos already has an ownership interest in thousands of acres of adjacent ranch land. The 87-year-old father of California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis is pushing for a 2,800-acre, 8,000-home complex that is not in any existing government-approved growth plan and is beyond Sacramento County’s urban services boundary.

On April 18, 2024, ECOS sent the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) a letter regarding Item #15 on their board meeting agenda, the 2025 Blueprint Discussion Scenario.
Below is an excerpt from our letter.
ECOS supports SACOG’s Option 3 of its Discussion Scenario: “Prioritizing Build Out and More Complete Communities”. This option assumes more complete build-out of developing and potential developing communities but in fewer places. SACOG needs to prioritize those developing communities that have the strongest likelihood of lower vehicle- VMT based on factors like proximity to existing development and jobs/housing balance.
On April 17, 2024, ECOS submitted two letters of support:
ECOS submitted a letter of opposition to the City of Sacramento Planning and Design Commission for its hearing on April 11, 2024 regarding Discussion Calendar Item 5: Airport South Industrial Project File ID: 2024-00766.
LAFCo should not, in our view, approve a Sphere of Influence change to the City for this development.
