Friends of ECOS contracts with America's Car Donation Charities Center to arrange the towing and sale of donated vehicles. Proceeds support ECOS's environmental education programs. Click here to download a form to donate your car, boat, or RV. The Car Donation Program's towing and customer service department will contact you via telephone within four business days.

Car Donation Regulations

Effective January 1, 2005, new IRS regulations affect donations of motor vehicles, boats and planes. These donations are still a viable means of contributing to ECOS, but we want our donors to be aware of the changes.

For donors who give a vehicle, boat or plane that exceeds $500 and is sold by ECOS, that donor can claim only the gross sale of that item as a tax deduction. (The new legislation no longer permits you to simply deduct the "fair market value" of the donated vehicle, boat or plane.)

If, however, the donor is claiming $500 or less, and for those not claiming a tax deduction, there are no changes.

ECOS and its partner, Car Program LLC will issue receipts. If you have further questions about the new legislation, please contact your tax professional.
