ECOS Blueprint Outreach
In an effort to involve communities in long-term planning for the
Sacramento Region, the Sacramento Area
Council of Governments (SACOG) conducted community Workshops for
the Blueprint Transportation/Land Use Study throughout the region
during 2003, culminating in the Tall Order Conference in April 2004. At
these workshops, SACOG received input from local residents and
addressed different Scenarios for growth planning with the use of the
interactive PLACE3Ss GIS computer program.
Based on the results of this
process, SACOG has now developed a "Preferred Alternative Scenario" for
regional growth. This Scenario was released in 2004.
During the SACOG Blueprint
workshop process, the Environmental Council of Sacramento
(ECOS) presented information about transit, land use and traffic
demand management strategies in communities throughout the Sacramento
region, helping to educate residents regarding the SACOG Blueprint plan
and how the plan can and should facilitate smart growth as our region
continues to develop. ECOS’s goals are to educate and involve
regional citizens in the ongoing Blueprint and Metropolitan
Transportation Plan (MTP) processes.
