ECOS 50-year Transportation Vision

ECOS has unveiled a 50-Year Transportation Vision for the Sacramento region. This Vision is complete with a transit network map, capital projects, and innovative transit, land-use and traffic demand management policies.

The Vision includes a transit/bike/pedestrian-only bridge at Arden Way and Truxel; underground rapid transit access to downtown and the multi-modal Amtrak station; transit guideways on major corridors throughout the region; and an extensive network of neighborhood shuttles.  The ECOS Vision presents a future for Sacramento with lower levels of air pollution and congestion and communities and neighborhoods that are livable, sustainable and safe.

The Vision, with incorporated land use and pricing strategies, has been modeled by UC Davis researchers (see Mineta Transportation Institute Report link below) and has produced impressive results in all areas: air quality, transit ridership, transportation equity, and neighborhood interconnectivity.  Modeling results show that the ECOS Vision produces lower vehicle miles traveled, increased transit ridership, lower air pollutant emissions, lower travel costs for low and moderate-income households, and lower land consumption than current and proposed plans.
